VAT relief

VAT law provides reliefs for people who are “chronically sick or disabled”. “Chronic” is taken
to mean lasting a long time and therefore excludes temporary injuries. However a long-term condition does not itself, determine whether someone is chronically sick or disabled.

For example, not everyone suffering from long-term back problems will be chronically sick
or disabled; some will and some won’t depending on the severity of the problem.

“Disabled” is also taken to refer to a long-term condition and includes mental disability.
Relief under the provision is not restricted to those who are registered disabled persons.
We are not automatically exempt from VAT, which is why we would provide a client ordering
a vehicle with a VAT exemption form to allow them this relief.

There are many other goods that may qualify to be exempt from VAT for a disabled person,
such as:

• Some medical and surgical appliances certain adjustable beds, chair lifts, hoists,
• lifts and sanitary devices.
• Emergency alarm call systems
• Items specially designed or adapted for disabled persons such as cars, boats and
